Different types of Pain
Pain: Unpleasant emotional and sensory experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage
Acute pain: pain of recent onset and with a relatively brief duration. Usually a result of nociceptive stimuli
Chronic pain: pain present for more than 3 months, outlasts the original stimulus and does not usually serve a useful purpose.
Nociceptive pain: pain due to tissue damage
Neuropathic pain: pain due to primary lesion or dysfunction in the brain, spinal cord and nerve fibres
